Sandra (Sandy) Lee Nesseth

Sandra (Sandy) Lee Nesseth, age 81, of Goodman, formerly of Nevada, MO, passed away peacefully at her home in Goodman on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Sandy, daughter of the late Morris Franklin and Ruth Ella (Strickland) Maxson, was born on October 30, 1944, in Charlotte, MI.

Sandy resided in Tampa, Florida, for many years, where she married Ottis E. Maine and together, they built a home and a family in New Port Richey, Florida. They were blessed with two children. After their marriage ended, Sandy found love again with Herbert Nesseth, with whom she shared a fulfilling life as a pastor’s wife and secretary at Trinity Church of the Nazarene until his passing in 1998.

In 2005, Sandy moved to Nevada, Missouri, to be closer to her family. During her time there she volunteered with the American Red Cross and took an active role at Fairview Community Church, where she served as a secretary and worship leader.

She was a woman of strength and humor and was known for her strong will and fun-loving nature. Sandy’s faith was the center of her life, and she found joy in sharing the Gospel, helping others, singing hymns, and reading her Bible. She found her peace in gardening, visiting those who couldn’t attend church, being a helping hand to others, and bringing joy to those around her.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Sonya Maine-Rusher, and her husband, Elmer, of Goodman; grandchildren, Britany Rogers, and her husband, Michael, of Marion, VA, Caleb Rogers, and his wife, Sarah, of Anderson, and Dylan Gubert-Rusher, also of Anderson; her sisters, Donna Jean O’Dell, of Eldorado Springs, and Ruth Ann Dorman, of Nevada; great grandchildren, Zachary Davis, Bentley Davis, Westley Rusher, and Kacie Rogers; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by one brother, Morris Franklin Maxson; and her only son, Aaron Maine.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 2:30 PM at the Marmaduke Park 600 W. Highland Ave, Nevada, MO 64772.  Please join the family for a meal and sharing of memories.  If you would like to bring a dish to share, it would be warmly welcomed.
