Norma Jean Hampton

Norma Jean Hampton, age 92, of Neosho, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Norma, daughter of the late Benjamin and Ruby (Wilmoth) Fry, was born on June 13, 1934, in Carterville, MO.  She attended and was the valedictorian of her graduating class at McDonald County High School in Anderson, MO. Norma was united in marriage to Delmar Hampton on March 23, 1952, in Noel, MO.  She became the wife of a Navy man, starting their family in California. Together, they raised five children, living in California, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Colorado and then eventually moving back to Neosho, MO.

Professionally, Norma dedicated her life to her work as a bookkeeper for various fruit produce companies in Colorado.  Her heart, however, was always in ministry. A devoted member of Burch Baptist Church in Neosho, where her husband serves as Pastor.  Norma faithfully stood beside her husband throughout his ministry, serving her church and community with compassion and love.  Not only did Norma have talents as the church pianist and singing in the church choir, but she also enjoyed sewing and knitting.

Norma is survived by her loving husband, Delmar Hampton, of Neosho; her beloved children, Ron Hampton, and his wife, Sally, of Joplin, Missouri, Pamela Marta, of Oak Harbor, Washington, Connie Prewitt, and her husband, Norman, of Salida, CO, and Bill Hampton, and his wife, Alicia, of Grand Junction, CO; one brother, Jimmy Dale Fry (Idaho); three sisters, Shirley Ann Johnson (Iowa), Carol Sue Flake (Arizona), and Vicky Fescine (Oklahoma); twelve grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by Jerry Fry, brother; Ginger Bridges, daughter; Rick Bridges, son in law; and Ron Marta, son in law.
