Amanda Jane Sample

Amanda Jane Sample, or Mandi as she preferred, age 47, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on July 27, 2026.

Amanda was born in Lamar, Missouri, to Melanee Jane Selsor, who preceded her in death, as did her grandparents, Ralph and Margaret Selsor.

She is survived by her fiancé; her sister and brother in law, Katherine and Tyler Wills, as well as her niece and nephew, whom she never had the opportunity to meet but loved dearly. She also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Mandi found joy and comfort in her beloved dogs. She was as always an animal lover, enjoyed music, art, laughter, and had a smile that many will remember. Those who knew her best knew that beneath the surface was a person with a caring heart, who loved Jesus Christ, and a life that held immeasurable value. Though she faced many challenges in life, they do not define her; they never diminished her worth or the love she had for her family, nor the love they held for her.

A private service will be held for family and close friends at a later date.

The family hopes that Mandi is remembered fondly with compassion, grace, and love, and that her life serves as a reminder that everyone is deserving of dignity, hope, and unconditional love.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
