Michael P. Novotni

It breaks our hearts to announce that Michael P. Novotni passed away September 2, 2026 in Joplin, Missouri. He was born March 10, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Hazel (née Anderson) and Stephen Novotni.

A longtime resident of Cincinnati, Michael spent his later years in Kansas and Missouri. He worked with computers for much of his career and served for many years as an IT manager, including at Plastic Moldings Corporation and Neodesha Plastics. He was an incredibly funny and intelligent man with a remarkable memory, somehow always able to recall specific details and stories from years past; his ability to make people laugh was just as remarkable.

Michael was an avid sports fan and a lifelong supporter of the Cincinnati Bengals, following the team from its very first season. Over the years, he accumulated an impressive collection of signed baseballs, sports cards, stamps, and much more. He loved traveling with his wife, Sharon, and together they saw much of the United States as well as parts of Mexico, Canada, Spain, Portugal, and Central America. They especially treasured the time they spent in Hawaii and Alaska. In his younger years, Michael was also a gifted amateur bowler and even competed in a locally televised tournament in Cincinnati.

Beloved by so many people, Michael was a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather at time of his passing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Novotni, and his dearly loved wife, Sharon Novotni.

He is survived by his brother John Novotni and 6 sons; Erik Novotni, Andy Novotni, Christopher Novotni, Todd Novotni, Nicholas Novotni, and Ryan Novotni as well as 2 daughters; Sarah Novotni and Amanda (Klayer) Novotni. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, a great grandchild, 2 nephews, a niece, and many other relatives.

In keeping with their wishes, Michael and Sharon’s ashes will be scattered together in a place of beauty and peace at the appropriate time.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park of Joplin, MO
