Steven Craig Jones
Steven Craig Jones, age 69, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 20, 2026. He was born in Joplin, MO on November 30, 1956 to Louis (Jack) and Phyllis (Dickerson) Jones. He was a 1974 graduate of Memorial High School. In his teenage years, he worked at Griffs Hamburger and Wyatt’s Cafeteria at Northpark Mall. He was employed by Pepsi as a truck driver for 13 years. He became disabled in 1993.
He married Maria Tracy Prince on July 20, 1979, and they later divorced after 8 years. He is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie Skelton and husband Travis (Tory), Tracy Evans and husband Jim, three grandchildren, Madison Buzzard, Treva Browder, and Trenton Hunter, three great grandchildren, Noah, Giovanni, and Ava. He is also survived by three sisters, Sheryl Murray and Susan Kollmeier (husband Kurt), and Jacque King, nieces Kaitlin Turner (husband Kevin), Megan Schenkel (husband Daniel), Kylie Kollmeier (husband Jarrett), nephews Christian Kollmeier, Taylor Kollmeier (partner Troy), and Jarrod Kollmeier. He was predeceased by his parents, and sister, Stacey Lynne Jones, grandparents Louis and Helen Jones, Emma Middleton and James Dickerson.
Steven loved to go fishing and camping, and leaves behind his longtime friend and fishing buddy, Don King. Steven had an amazing voice and loved to sing and play guitar, and sounded just like his idol, Elvis Presley. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
He has been cremated and will have a graveside service on Monday, October 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. There will also be a Celebration of Life meal for friends and family at First Community Church in Joplin, following service.
