Daniel “Dano” Raymond Slifka, 62, of West Mineral, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on February 28, 1963, in Reno, Nevada, Dan was the son of the late Robert and Joanne Slifka. Throughout his life, he carried with him the values of hard work, loyalty, and kindness—qualities that defined him both at home and in his community.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Linda Slifka, and their five children: Steven Slifka of Carthage, MO; David Slifka of Weir, KS; Cody Ybarra of Frontenac, KS; Kirby Slifka of Fort Scott, KS; and Ryley Collingsworth of Coffeyville, KS. He also leaves behind 12 cherished grandchildren who brought him endless pride and joy.
For more than 30 years, Dan worked as a welder, earning the nickname “Dano” among friends and coworkers who admired his skill and dedication. After stepping away from the shop, he spent several years as a salesman with Kirkland Welding Supplies before semi-retiring as a farm wrangler for Bill Price—work that suited his hands-on spirit and love of the outdoors.
Dan will be remembered as a warm, joyful soul who could fill any room with laughter. He was deeply beloved by his wife, children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Sports were a lifelong passion for Dan. A standout football player in high school, he continued to stay active through recreational softball leagues and by cheering on his children in their own athletic pursuits. Above all, he was a die-hard, lifelong Kansas City Chiefs fan—never missing a chance to celebrate a win or defend his team.
Dan’s legacy is one of love, humor, and unwavering devotion to family. His presence will be profoundly missed, but the memories he created will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he leaves behind. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Weir Civic Club Building,
