Peggy Lassiter “PJ Graham”
Peggy Lassiter aka PJ Graham, 53, of Pittsburg, Kansas passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on January 13th, 2026. PJ was a resident of Pittsburg for 23 years.
PJ was born to John S. Graham and Margaret A. Wingert on May 14th, 1972 in Elton, Maryland. The family moved to Carthage, Missouri in 1978.
PJ graduated from MSSU in Joplin, Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in English. She went on to work as a News Editor for The Sarcoxie Record and Pierce City Leader-Journal in Sarcoxie, Missouri. Later, she worked as a technical writer, editor, and web content specialist at Pitsco Inc. in Pittsburg, Kansas. She also worked at The Doggie Bag, Happy Paws, and was a published freelance writer after Pitsco. Most recently, she was an adult services assistant at the Pittsburg Public Library.
PJ was an active member of the community volunteering for organizations such as Pittsburg Community Garden, Neighborhood Advisory Council, SEKWIN, and the SEK Arts Community. She loved hiking, reading, walking her dogs, caring for pets and making jam for family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, drumming, playing board games, Dungeons & Dragons, and writing her blog “Parting the Mists”.
PJ is survived by her significant other of 11 years, Allen Childers of Pittsburg, Kansas and her step-daughter Angel-lea Childers, her sisters, Beth Jeffries of Missouri and Tina Tilley of Kentucky, her brother John Graham of Arkansas, and extended relatives.
She is preceded in death by her father, John S. Graham and her mother Margaret A. Wingert of Carthage, Missouri. A Celebration of Life will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 9, 2026 at the Frisco Event Center in Pittsburg per PJ’s request.
