Dale Handshumaker
Dale Handshumaker, age 84, passed away peacefully at his home on December 7, 2025. He was born at home on July 2, 1941, to Lloyd and Bernice (Nance) Handshumaker.
Dale grew up in the Old Parker area and spent most of his life in Coffeyville, Kansas, later residing in Bernice, Oklahoma. He was married to Karen DeMott, with whom he shared his home.
Dale is survived by his wife, Karen DeMott; his siblings, Bettie Hill (Ray), Sharon Caulkins, Steve Handshumaker (Juanita), and Mike Handshumaker (Linda).
He is also survived by his children: Debbie Shelly (John) of Arlington, Texas; Randall Handshumaker (LaDonna Marlow) of Coffeyville, Kansas; Dalena Shook (Michael) of Coffeyville, Kansas; Sean Handshumaker (Angela) of Skiatook, Oklahoma; Vicki Horton of Topeka, Kansas; Donna Rae Handshumaker of Lawrence, Kansas; Christopher Madison (Samantha) of Coffeyville, Kansas; and Crystal Sharpe (Billy) of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Dale was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends who will miss him dearly.
Throughout his working years, Dale was employed by Lawrence Benning, Page Milk, Western Publishing, Golden Books, and later retired from Amazon. In his free time, he found peace and happiness fishing and spending time by the water—his favorite place to be.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Bernice Handshumaker, and four siblings: Carol, Lloyd Jr., Don, and Gary Handshumaker.
Dale is forever “gone fishing” and will be missed tremendously by all who loved him.
Honoring his wishes, no services will be held.
