Linda “Jane” Bryson
August 8, 1942 – November 22, 2025
Linda “Jane” Bryson was born on August 8, 1942, in Joplin, Missouri. She grew up on Main Street and attended Joplin public schools, graduating from Joplin High School in 1960. Shortly after graduation, she married James Paul Robson, also of Joplin, and the two began their life together in New Jersey. There, they welcomed two sons before later moving to Kansas City, Missouri, where their daughter was born. In 1969, the family relocated to Houston, Texas.

Jane’s career spanned a remarkable range of roles. Over the years, she worked as a residential housing manager, a regional convenience store manager, a home caretaker, and a Rural Property Imaging Consultant – positions that reflected her resourcefulness, compassion, and talent for connecting with people.

Her life’s journey took her to New Jersey, Kansas City, Houston, Albuquerque, Los Alamos, and Santa Fe before she ultimately returned home to Joplin in the late 1980s. In 2011, she survived the Joplin tornado, trapped in her basement on Main Street while her family searched desperately for her. They finally spotted her not by phone, but on a television broadcast – being interviewed by Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America from the Red Cross shelter. Shortly afterward, Jane moved to Mercy Village, where she made her home for the remainder of her life.

Jane found joy in games of every kind, especially canasta, bridge, and farkle. She loved tending her garden and shared its vegetables freely with friends and neighbors. Her kindness, humor, and warmth were constants in the lives she touched.
Jane is survived by her sister, Jeanie Carrico of Albuquerque, New Mexico; her children and their spouses: Jim and Becky Robson of Olathe, Kansas; Mike and Yolanda Robson of Houston, Texas; and Lora and Curt Morgan of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her six grandchildren – Megan, Sam, and Joe Robson; Ava Robson; and Emma and Iris Morgan – one great-grandchild, Olivia; and her beloved cat, Murray. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Imo Jean Bryson, and her brother, Mike Bryson.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at Mercy Village on Friday, November 28th at 11:00 AM.
