James “Jim” Charles Feathers
James (Jim) Charles Feathers, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, Uncle, and friend, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 3rd, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born in Akron, Ohio, and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Jim carried his sense of duty and service throughout his life. He found joy in the simple pleasures—fishing, gardening, spending time with loved ones, and cheering on his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, Carol. The two would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on November 1st of this year. He also leaves behind his daughter, Ashley McCasland; his son, Carson Feathers; and his cherished grandchildren, Alex Bieniek, Griffin Bieniek, and Lachlyn McCasland. Jim is also survived by his brother, Steve Feathers; sisters, Melody Feathers and Sarah Hernandez; and his nephew and fishing partner, Joshua Feathers. His extended family includes many nieces and nephews, as well as his Four State Trucks family, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Paul and Susan Feathers, and his brother, Paul Feathers.
In keeping with Jim’s wishes, the family will not be holding a formal memorial service. Instead, they invite you to honor his memory by spending time at your favorite fishing spot, reflecting on the life of a man who found peace and happiness in nature and in the company of those he loved.
Though he has cast his final line, the ripples of Jim’s love and laughter will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
