Joseph “Joe” Erie
Joseph Erie, 40, departed this earthly life on June 26th 2025, in his home. We all know that Joe fought a long, courageous and unwavering battle of testicular cancer.
Joe was born July 10* 1984, in Fort Scott, KS. The son of Michael Henry Erie Jr. and Agnes Delores Pearson. He grew up and went to school locally in Fort Scott where he ended his education at grade 9, school was not his “cup of joe”. However, he continued learning and educating others the rest of his days. Many of his life lessons were gained from the family and friends he loved dearly at Koss
Construction. Joe worked for Koss for nearly 18 years and took pride in his work. When not working, Joe was a jack of all trades with endless knowledge. He enjoyed spending his days with his family and friends, telling stories, fishing, hunting, tanning animal hides with his special technique just simply being in nature, black smithing, finding treasures at auctions and with metal detectors, he also loved spending time on his tractor and getting his farm land ready for his family. Joe met the love of his life, Miranda Dawn Erskin-Wells, in April of 2018. Joe and Miranda made an instant family, making the kids “o-fishally Erie” May 5th 2022 making Fulton, KS their home. Joe and Miranda wed on August 19, 2023, after multiple delays due to cancer treatments but proving that their love was still a priority.
Joe faced this evil disease with REMARKABLE strength, grace, dignity and FAITH. Throughout his journey he remained a source of love, hope and inspiration to all.
His legacy of kindness, resiliency, compassion, strength, grit, and his ability to tell his stories will be carried out. Joe’s last wishes were that we keep our faith, do not question or blame God. Some of Joe’s last advice about, “making it in this crazy world” is to “have a Bible, a stocked gun safe and ammo, but use your Bible the most”!
Joe leaves behind his wife, Miranda Dawn Erie, their two children
Hiacyne Daitona Wells-Erie (18) and Holdyn Remmington Erie (11), all of Fulton, KS. His parents Michael “Mike” Erie Jr. and Agnes Pearson, both of his grandmothers Edna Erie and Frances Pearson, all of Fort Scott, KS, his brother Eric Pearson (Jessica) of Ottawa KS, his sister Glenda Cisneros (Jake) of Fort Scott, KS. A multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a large group of friends. Joe was preceded in death by both of his grandfathers, Michael Erie Sr. and Glen Pearson Sr.,
as well as, some aunts, uncles, cousins, and a nephew. He asked that we tell his story, his journey and be advocates for others to find FAITH. He also begged for men to check their “nuts” and to seek treatment immediately upon finding any abnormalities. “Pee on the pregnancy stick” he would say.
Although it is not the outcome we expected or ever wanted, our Joe/Pepe/Pepin-o is whole, happy, healthy and WALKING the golden streets of Heaven.
We will leave you with Joe’s favorite
Bible verse.
Isaiah 41:10
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
(FAITH OVER FEAR)
