Elisabeth Hope Earhart
Elisabeth Hope Earhart, age 75, of Joplin, MO passed away surrounded by family on April 16, 2025. She was born on November 17, 1949 to the late Robert and Alice (Cale) Earhart.
Throughout her life, Elisabeth served her community with a warm smile as a waitress, a role that allowed her to touch the lives of many. In addition, she also worked for the Department of Transportation and the U.S. Census Bureau.
Elisabeth attended Hope Baptist Church in Joplin and loved the people in the congregation. For many years she attended Central Christian Church and later Impact Life Church. Elisabeth always enjoyed talking with the preachers and people in the congregation. Elisabeth was known for being thoughtful and thinking of others. She would often treat others for lunch or buy little items for people to let them know she thought of them. Elisabeth’s passion for acronyms, numbers and astrology often made for lively conversations, and she could always be counted on to share an intriguing fact or a horoscope reading. She had a fondness of buying the occasional lottery ticket or two. As a lifelong lover of horses, she would often remind her daughters when it was Kentucky Derby day, which may explain her love of extravagant hats She had a wide variety of interests which included ballroom dancing, playing cards, cooking, going to Joplin Library, following Queen Elizabeth and royal family, reading updates on the search for Amelia Earhart, listening to Righteous Brothers and enjoying a cup of coffee each morning. Elisabeth loved doing surveys which she would collect points for gift cards. She was known for being resourceful and always finding ways to make free money.
She is survived by children, Phaedra Earhart and Tatiana Earhart (Jon Cowart); grandchild, Jace Welker; siblings, Martha Wright, Joe Earhart, and David Earhart.
A funeral service is planned for Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Villa Heights Christian Church in Joplin, MO. With Pastor Steve Bycroft officiating. The family invites friends for a time of visitation on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Parker Mortuary in Joplin, MO from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
