Dianne Lee Carmichael, age 63, passed away on May 16, 2026, in Galena, Kansas. She was born on June 15, 1962, in Portland and spent much of her life in Oregon, Montana, Missouri and Kansas.
Dianne was a woman of deep faith, compassion, creativity, and humor. She served faithfully as the Children’s Church Director and the Hands Together Puppet Team Director at The Sheep Shed Church, where she brought joy to countless children and families through her handmade puppets and uplifting spirit. She lovingly built ten puppets herself and often spoke of her dream to build ten more. Making people laugh and smile was one of her greatest gifts.
She grew up attending and was baptized at Salt Creek Baptist Church and carried those roots of faith and service throughout her life.
Dianne attended Campus Elementary, Talmadge Junior High, and Central High School. She treasured simple moments with family and nature, especially fishing at Detroit Reservoir, where some of her happiest memories were made casting a line near the dam.
As an attendee and supporter of the Amputee Coalition, Dianne completed training to become a Certified Peer Visitor so she could encourage, support, and guide fellow amputees facing difficult transitions. Her compassion for others came from lived experience and a sincere desire to help people feel less alone.
Dianne was a long-time member of her local TOPS Club. One of her greatest accomplishments in tops was becoming a century club medallion winner.
Dianne also deeply loved her dog, Joey, who brought her comfort and companionship.
She will be remembered for her warmth, humor, resilience, faith, creativity, and servant’s heart. Her life touched many people across generations, and the joy she gave to others will continue to live on through the memories she created.
Dianne is preceded in death by Clara Bryant, mother and Perry Carmichael, father. Dianne is survived by brothers Perry Carmichael, Jr., F. Kelly Carmichael and sisters Joan Lambert, Sharron Livengood, and Susanne Carmichael. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
