Jimmie Ray Horton
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Jimmie Ray Horton of Goshen, Indiana, who passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on October 21, 1939, in Yuba City, California, to Ruben Horton and Clara Williams, Jimmie lived a full and vibrant life.
In his younger years, Jimmie was known for his spirited nature. He worked in construction and owned a bar before relocating to Indiana, where he established a successful subcontracting business specializing in siding and skirting mobile homes. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed teaching his craft to his grandsons at a young age. Even in his later years, he remained dedicated to his work and often joked about his love for “making that greenback.”
Jimmie retired at age 81 and spent his final years enjoying the simpler things: watching birds from his front porch, sitting in the sun, and enjoying his favorite treats. He always made sure to have a cold Pepsi in the fridge and a bowl of chocolate ready to share with anyone who visited.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Clara; his sisters, Virginia, Patsy, and Audie; and his brother, Jack.
Jimmie is survived by his two younger brothers, Donald (Katie) Horton and Robert (Joy) Horton of California; his six children, Tammy Quinn Horton (John Quinn) of California, Patsy Foster (Vaughn Dunn) of Missouri, Kelly Horton (Robert Kuntz) of California, Judy Horton (Randy Cummings) of Missouri, Jimmie (Trina) Horton of Indiana, and Glendale (Nancy) Horton of Indiana. He also leaves behind 15 grandchildren: Nickolas, Heather, Daniel, Brandon, Glendale Jr., Tiffany, Christopher, Shawna, James, Amber, Amanda, Jeremy, Cassie, Corey, and Cayden; 20 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
His dedication to his work and his deep love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be missed dearly.
