Glenda Diane Vanatta

Glenda Diane Vanatta 1947-2026

It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and friend at age 78. Glenda Diane Vanatta from Galena, Kansas passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of Saturday February 21, 2026.

For more than five decades, she shared a beautiful marriage with her beloved husband, building a life grounded in unconditional love. Together they weathered life’s seasons hand in hand, creating a home filled with memories. Their 57-year union stood as a shining example of commitment and partnership.

She had a colorful spirit that revealed itself in not only her fashion sense but also her dancing. Whether twirling at weddings, square dancing, line dancing, or pulling loved ones onto the floor at family celebrations, she believed that music was meant to be felt and shared. Dancing brought her happiness, and she delighted in inviting others to join her, reminding everyone that life is meant to be celebrated.

She was a woman who found beauty in simple moments — crocheting, baking, or watching her children and later grandchildren perform and compete. She was their number 1 fan. She leaves behind her husband Melvin Vanatta; her children Stacy Vanatta, Kevin Vanatta and his wife Stacy, and Tiffany Cox and her husband Brenton Cox; her grandchildren Brayden Hollingsworth, Brynlee Hollingsworth, Kaylee McGehee, Trevor Vanatta, Quinton Cox, and Khloee Cox; her great-grandchild Bentley Vanatta; her beloved dog Cinnamon who gave her pure joy; and a circle of extended family and friends who will carry her memory forward. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.

Though our hearts ache in her absence, we are comforted by the legacy she leaves — a legacy of love, devotion, and a life lived with grace and joy. We will remember her every time music plays and feet begin to move, knowing she is dancing in Heaven and in our hearts forever.
