Gary Wayne Marshall

Gary Wayne Marshall, age 82, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026. He was born on November 29, 1943, in Carthage, Missouri.

Gary was a lifelong resident of the Carthage area and a proud graduate of Carthage High School. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. Following his military service, Gary built a career as a certified mechanic, including time with Gilkey’s Auto in Lamar, before later retiring from Dyno in Carthage. Even after retirement, he remained active in his community through seasonal work with Carthage Parks and Recreation.

Gary was a man who found joy in simple pleasures and lifelong passions. He loved Kubota tractors, tractor pulls, steam engine shows, NASCAR racing, and cheering on his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He also enjoyed keeping up with the news, Donald Trump, and watching Judge Judy.

He is survived by his children, John Marshall, Steve Marshall. His two sisters, Janice (Rick) Johnson, and Marsha (Bobby) Coonce. Gary was a proud grandfather to Joseph Marshall, Daniel Jordan, Dacy Crockett, and Dage Crockett. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren Astrid Smith, Montana Morell, Cain Smith, Magnolia Morell, and Freyja Smith, along with many beloved family members Amanda (Kenny) Smith, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin Marshall and Mary Marshall, and his sister, Linda (Lyle) McGuire.

Gary will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his mechanical skill, his love of family, and the quiet happiness he found in the things that made life meaningful to him. While his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace, reunited with those who went before him. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Charlie 22 in Webb City, Missouri
