Michael E. Hataway

Michael E Hataway, 34, of Quapaw OK, formerly of Webb City, MO passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, January 8, 2026. He was the son of Mariann Ripley, of Webb City, MO. Michael was fortunate enough to have two amazing Father figures throughout his life, Joel Stockburger of Joplin MO, and Greg Pachlhofer, of Webb City, MO, who he admired and loved very much. Michael graduated from Webb City High School.

His favorite and most rewarding role in life was being a dad. He was the most fun, loving, and supportive father to his two daughters, Aliya Holden and Rhylynn Hataway, both of Webb City, MO. Michael was the ultimate girl dad, always there supporting them at their softball games and watching them cheer at football games. They were his greatest joy and the light of his life.

Michael loved football. He was an avid Chiefs fan. However, his favorite football player to cheer on and watch was his nephew, Talan Haslip, of Webb City, MO. Michael always found happiness when surrounded by family and friends. He loved the country life, especially being at the creek with his brother and best friend, Rich, his two girls, and his nieces and nephews who he absolutely loved and adored. He enjoyed cooking and creating new recipes in his spare time. One of his favorite places to visit to pray and relax was the Praying Hands.

Michael was the kind of person who would light up a room without even trying. Always the life of the party. Funny, loving, and deeply caring, he had the biggest heart and natural gift for making others smile. He lived with kindness, laughed often, and left an unforgettable mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Michael is survived by his mother, Mariann Ripley of Webb City, MO; daughters Aliya Holden and Rhylynn Hataway of Webb City, MO; brother Richard Doty of Quapaw, OK; sister Holly Wallace (Travis) of Webb City, MO; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandmother Laverta Gibby, grandfather Johnnie Gibby, uncle Jerry Gibby, uncle Jeff Gibby, uncle Russ Gibby, and aunt Callie Gibby. Michael continues to be an amazing daddy in heaven to his unborn baby Phoenix Michael, who he and Tiffani Holden lost 10 years ago. Michael will always be remembered for his contagious smile, and steadfast love and devotion to his family.
