Patty Jo (Harmon) Krainz
Patty Jo (Harmon) Krainz, Honey to her grandchildren, much loved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on January 4 of 2026 surrounded by her sons and daughters-in-law.
She was born on November 2, 1940 in Pittsburg Kansas, where she grew up and lived the majority of her adult life. Patty graduated Pittsburg High School. She worked some in retail, cooked at MT Carmel Hospital, and Sorted the donations for The Doggie Bag.
Patty/Honey loved nothing more than her family and close friends. She found joy in cooking, leisurely browsing aisles of any grocery store, butterflies, the clouds, collecting odd trinkets, colored glass of all shapes and sizes, online shopping, bright color clothing, and Santa Fe NM.
Until the very end, her mind and memory were true wonder to all of us. She could identify every individual from the oldest photos, recall song artists and celebrity statistics from most any era, she knew movies and actors old and new. Patty knew someone everywhere she went and easily made new friends. Her favorite saying “it is what it is.”
She is survived by her Sons; David (Terry) Krainz of Bella Vista AR, Jody (Donna- Patty’s Person) Krainz of Harper KS, Frankie Krainz of NY, Daughter; Jenny Krainz, Grandchildren; Dean Krainz-Grimaldo of Pittsburg KS (who grew up living with Honey), Lily Krainz-Grimaldo (Bryan Araiza-Ramos) of NM, Shannon (Greg) Herin of Overbrook KS, Three Great grandchildren and one Great-great granddaughter, five grand-dogs,
Brother; Jim (Cheryl) Harmon, of Lawrence KS, Sister-in-law; Karen Harmon of Manchester, Mo. and
other dear relatives and friends.
She was preceeded in death by her Father Ernest Harmon Jr. and Mother Marjorie Harmon, Grandfather Joe H Scott and Grandmother Gertrude Scott all of Pittsburg KS and Brother John Harmon of Manchester, MO.
Graveside services Friday, January 16, 2026 at 11 AM at Highland Park Cemetery Pavilion 2025 South Broadway St., Pittsburg, KS
In lieu of flowers please make donations in Patty’s name to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Pittsburg, KS.
Patty will be missed and forever hold a special place in the hearts of her family and friends.
Arrangements are under the personal care of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory of Joplin, Mo.
