Janice Jean (Jones) Potter
Janice Jean (Jones) Potter, 65, peacefully went to be with the Lord on September 23, 2025 in Sarcoxie, MO. Janice was born to Mason and Martha (Drake) Jones on January 25, 1960. She graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1978. For more than 40 years, Janice’s calling was to care for those in their later years, and she will be remembered for the kindness, empathy, and compassion that defined her nursing. Janice was especially proud of receiving the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, an honor recognizing her integrity, clinical excellence, and the compassion she consistently showed to her patients and their families. This award was a reflection of the values she carried throughout her career. Above all she was most proud of giving life to her four children Jerry, Justin, Matt, and Sarah. Janice enjoyed going to the river, sewing, dancing, playing pool, playing with her grandkids, and karaoke. She embodied her favorite song, ‘These Boots Were Made for Walking,’ by facing life’s ups and downs with confidence and determination.
She is survived by her children Justin Whitton (Kristin), Mathew Quick (Tristen), and Sarah Estevez (Ever), her grandchildren Elizabeth, Reed, Jessica, Colton, Brooklyn, Lily, Jonathan, Alexander, and Everly, siblings Connie Leonard (John), John Jones (Patricia), and Randy Jones (Tracy), and many nieces and nephews that she adored. She shared a close bond with her friend, Chuck Bock, who brought much joy to her life.
She is preceded in death by Bill Potter, her son, Jerry Walter Brown, Jr., her parents Mason and Martha Jones, and her brothers Jim Jones, Mason Jones, and Clayton (Missy) Jones.
A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Sarcoxie Nursing Center for providing Janice with phenomenal care and surrounding her with so much love in her final days. Services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church, 300 South Main Street, El Dorado Springs, MO.
