November 22, 1949 – August 31, 2025
Theresa Kathryn Schwendemann, age 75, of Lake of the Ozarks, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025. She was born on November 22, 1949, to the late Robert and Helen Hamilton.
Theresa devoted her life to caring for others, both in her professional career and in her personal life. After graduating from Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse, she began a long and distinguished career in healthcare. She first worked in the ER and then in Labor and Delivery in Sacramento CA. After moving back to her hometown of Troy MO, she served as Director of Nursing at Lincoln County Manor, where her leadership, dedication, and compassion left a lasting mark on the staff and residents she guided. Later, she returned to her true calling as a Labor and Delivery nurse, where she shared in the joy of welcoming new life and touched countless families with her skill and kindness.
On January 22, 1972, Theresa married the love of her life, Ronald Schwendemann. Together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and faith. After Ronald’s passing, Theresa moved to Joplin, Missouri, where she continued to pour her love and energy into her children and, grandchildren.
Theresa is survived by her beloved children: Jill Carrier and husband Jeff, Cory Schwendemann and wife Angela, and Ryan Schwendemann and wife Chelsea. She leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren who were the light of her life: Jack, Lillie, and Maggie Carrier; Mira Schwendemann; and Kaden, Payton and River Schwendemann. She is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Helen Hamilton; her husband, Ronald Schwendemann; her sister, Lisa Snow; and her sister-in-law, Karen Peterson.
Theresa had a zest for life that radiated to those around her. She treasured summers at the Lake of the Ozarks, where she eventually retired, and she found joy in time spent with family and friends. An animal lover at heart, she especially adored her faithful dog, Laddy. But above all, Theresa’s greatest pride and joy was her children and grandchildren—there was no place she would rather be than at their meets, performances, or any event where she could cheer them on.
Theresa will be remembered for her warmth, her selflessness, and her unwavering love. Her legacy will live on in the lives she nurtured and the family she adored. Services will be at James River Church in Joplin, MO on Monday September 8, 2025 at 1:00.
