Phyllis M (Hood) Daniels
Phyllis M (Hood) Daniels, age 86, passed away on Wednesday August 13, 2025.
Phyllis (Nanny) was born on December 29, 1938, in Diamond MO, the daughter of the late Herman and Bernice (Shilling) Hood. She was a life long resident of Joplin. She was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church. Phyllis was a homemaker for many years taking care of her granddaughters and also babysat other children. Phyllis was a very social person and later on put her talking to good use while working at Wicks N Sticks in the mall and Kents/Amanda’s Hallmark Store on West 7th St Joplin, MO.
Nanny enjoyed watching her Kansas City Chiefs play football and would yell at the television like the players could hear her. She was especially smitten with Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw. Her greatest joy was watching her granddaughters play sports and later on her great grandsons. She would always make brownies or cookies and bring to the games however, one time the brownies didn’t turn out so she didn’t bring them. Her granddaughters gave her sass for not bringing them.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, David Daniels; a daughter Kerry Bishop and husband Tom, Joplin MO., a son and wife, Overland Park, KS.; four granddaughters, Amy Renfro and husband James, Webb City MO., Kristen Bishop, Joplin, MO., Melissa Bradley and boyfriend Chad, Joplin MO., Rebecca Harris and fiancé Keecie, Kansas City, MO., three great grandsons, Brock Renfro, Colby Renfro, Cameron Harris, one great granddaughter Camora Powell; two brothers Larry Hood, Ronnie and wife Wanda Hood, one sister in law Judy Hood and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Gerald Hood and her infant son Terry Harris.
A memorial service will be held on September 6, 2025 at Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin, MO. Visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. with the service starting at 11:00. A private family burial will take place on September 5, 2025. Phyllis is being buried at Ozark Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request you make a donation to Webb City Cares program.
