Gwenith Maye Pendleton
Gwenith Maye Pendleton (née Weir), 83, of Baxter Springs, Kansas, passed away
peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Born on May 26, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Richard and Gwenith Weir (née Griffith),
Gwenith was raised in Chicago before graduating from Bay View High School in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin. She married Gary T. Pendleton, and their union brought forth two beloved
children, Annmarie and Anthony.
A member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Baxter Springs, Gwenith lived her life with
devotion to her faith, family, and community. She was a dedicated mother and
grandmother, finding great joy in attending her grandchildren’s events and offering
unwavering support. Gwenith’s creative spirit shone through her passion for sewing and
crafting, where she invested countless hours creating cherished works with love and care
in every detail.
Gwenith is survived by her son, Anthony Pendleton; her granddaughter, Carrissa Peacock;
and her grandson, CJ Peacock. She was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Gwenith Weir; her brother, Richard
Weir; and her daughter, Annmarie Pendleton.
Gwenith’s warmth, kindness, and steadfast dedication to her family will be deeply missed
by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A celebration of her life will be held at a date to be announced.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park of Joplin, MO
