Larry Norman Bramlett
Larry Norman Bramlett, age 76, of Diamond, Missouri, went home to be with the Lord as he slept on July 29th, 2025. It was a surprise to all, but a comfort to know that he was at peace in the home he and his family had built.
Larry was born April 19th, 1949, to Clarence Norman and Lorene (Kirkpatrick) Bramlett. He was the second-born of five children and the only son. On July 26th of 1969, Larry married Margaret Lansdown and soon had two sons, Scott Norman and Corey Joe.
Larry was proud of his service in the United States Air Force, where he served as a machinist from May 1968 to May 1972. He was stationed in Taiwan, Maine, and his proudest post was at NASA’s California center. He loved the Air Force and could always be seen wearing his favorite hat with its logo. After his service, Larry worked for Sperry Vickers as a machinist until 1998, when he went on to work at Branco as a Construction Superintendent until his retirement.
He always had a relaxed and friendly demeanor and was always socializing. Through jokes, kindness, and improvised silly songs, he always brought a smile to everyone he knew. In his mind, a stranger was just a friend he hadn’t met yet. He was never without a Big Nickel newspaper, and you could always find him at auctions and estate sales, even if it was only to talk to folks he knew. He spent a short time as a Scout Master, and loved to volunteer, especially with his fellow veterans.
He was a man of many passions. He loved to eat and share sweets, even if those sweets were in the homes and refrigerators of his son and Wife, or of his grandchildren. His favorite was always ice cream sandwiches or butter brickle. Tinkering was another hobby that always kept him busy. He worked on anything from home projects to carving walking sticks. There was nothing he believed that couldn’t be fixed with enough zipties. He also loved any creature that he could catch, pet, or play with. He loved and met the gigantic Clydesdales from TV, and named every tree frog he found Fred, but for every other animal, he suggested Herkimer. He and his Wife owned an assortment of animals from goats to sheep, chickens, ducks, and especially their beloved boxers. He spoiled every dog, and they never left Papa’s house hungry.
Above all else, Larry was proudest of his family. He loved his Wife, his siblings, his children, and his grandchildren. He beamed with joy at every new addition and would brag to anyone who would listen. He was proud of carrying on the namesake of his father, ensuring that the oldest son of each generation had the middle name of Norman. He was the heart and soul of the family, and would always be there to lend a hand or to make them laugh.
He is survived by his Wife, Margaret Gail (Lansdown) Bramlett, his two Sons, Scott Norman Bramlett and Wife Paula (Cox) Bramlett, and Corey Joe Bramlett and Wife Abi Bramlett, and his Grandchildren, Joseph Norman Bramlett and Wife Marissa (Putman) Bramlett, and Emily Ann (Bramlett) Thompson and Husband Hudson Thompson. He is also survived by his Sisters, Kathy (Bramlett) Pravin, Susan (Bramlett) McGuirk and husband Tim McGuirk, Kammy Bramlett, and Shana (Bramlett) Ashley and Ed Ashley (recently passed), as well as many Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Norman Bramlett and Lorene (Kirkpatrick) Bramlett.
Larry was a wonderful Son, Brother, Husband, Father, and Grandfather, and his absence will be felt by all who knew him. We will all look forward to his jokes and his laugh when we see him again one day. Until then, we take comfort in knowing he is running amok with all those family and friends who have gone before him in the presence of God.
A Celebration of Life for Larry will be held Thursday, August 14th, at 6:00 p.m. at his home church, Joplin Family Worship Center, in Joplin, Missouri. Following the service, a dessert fellowship will be held in honor of his love of sweets and socializing amongst family and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park of Joplin, MO
