Lloyd Barnard

It is with profound sorrow and a sense of immense loss that we gather to celebrate the remarkable life of Lloyd Earnest Barnard, a steadfast and devoted servant of his Lord and Savior. At the age of 95, Lloyd peacefully departed this world to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. His journey began on November 21, 1929. He was born to George Barnard and Martha Rachel Barnard, both of whom preceded him in death. Lloyd’s life was rich with family. He was one of sixteen children and he was preceded in death by seven brothers: Floyd (twin), Lonnie Wayne, Lawrence, Lorn, Abraham, Joe, and George Barnard. One Angel Baby, He also mourned the loss of six sisters: Margrette, Dimple, Betty, Garnet, Bernice, and Mary. He is survived by his beloved sister, Connie Coleman, of Joplin, MO.

On September 5, 1951, Lloyd embarked on a lifelong journey of love when he married Mildred Louise Barnard (Adams). Their union was a testament to enduring love and devotion, spanning an incredible 74 years. Mildred, the love of his life, preceded him in death on November 9th, 2024. Lloyd’s legacy lives on through his four cherished children: Loyd Wayne of Joplin, MO; Yvonnda Tramell of Quapaw, OK; Roger Barnard of Quapaw, OK; and Kathy Clouse of Seneca, MO. His warmth and wisdom extended to 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his memory forward.

Lloyd was a minister who preached love, spreading a message of compassion and faith. He had a love for singing and would gladly do so for any whom were near. Two of his favorite songs to sing were, “I sing because I’m Happy” and “I’ll fly away”. He would also sing “In the Garden” to his beloved wife her favorite song almost everyday. He was, by all accounts, a “social butterfly” who possessed an extraordinary ability to connect with others; he truly “never met a stranger”. His unwavering faith was evident in his love for going to church, and his greatest joy was found in the embrace of his family. He also served his country with honor in the Army in 1948, where he bravely drove tanks.

He will be deeply missed by a multitude of family and friends whose lives he touched with his boundless spirit and kindness. Though he may be gone from our sight, his presence will forever resonate in our hearts, for he will “never be forgotten”. Services will be held at Faith Holiness Church, 3605 W Belle Center Rd, Joplin, MO 64801 on July 26, 2025 at 11:00 am
