Leonard Totman
June 27, 1941 – July 21, 2025
Leonard was born to Ernest and Dorothy Totman in Arcadia, KS. He had three siblings: one brother, Richard, and two sisters, Nelly and Shirley, all of whom preceded him in death. In 1962, he married Elaine Gamble. Through their marriage, he fathered three sons (who are now deceased) and two daughters, Victoria Faith (Totman) of Missouri and Dayna Murphy (Totman) of Texas, who both survive him. Also surviving are multiple grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
Leonard fought internal battles that he never shared. He left his family in 1978, and the remainder of his life remains a mystery.
In 2014, Leonard met Eddie Frossard, who became the only grandson he ever knew. Eddie and
Leonard enjoyed many hours fishing together, and thanks to Eddie, Leonard was able to experience the comfort of family as he aged. Leonard also became acquainted with Helen Simon of Joplin, MO who also became an important friend to him. Leonard leaves behind many unanswered questions for his family of whom do not grieve him but grieve what could have been.
I was a little girl who needed her dad
But you left when life got bad
Forty years went by with you nowhere around
And now they are putting you in the ground
I tried to get here at your request
To let you put your guilt to rest
Once again you left without care
And I feel dumb just standing here
I thought this time you’d be there for me
But again you’ve left so you’d be free
