Lorrie Hovater

Lorrie Hovater (Cates), 56 years of age, passed on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Joplin, Missouri.

Lorrie was born September 7, 1968 in Eldorado, Kansas. She was the youngest of three siblings. She was preceded by her parents Charles and Cinda Cates.

Lorrie is survived by husband Gary Hovater(married 10 years). Two daughters, Nicole Hanks (husband Richard) of Kansas City and Whittney Kessler (Janelle) of Wichita. Four grandchildren, Remington, Willow Sullivan and Kabe Kessler and two brothers, Jeff Nachbor and Justin Nachbor.

Lorrie graduated Elk Valley High School Longton, Kansas 1986 while taking glasses in Germany and graduated Independence Community College in 2006.

Lorrie worked at DART OIL & GAS CORP. of Independence, KS and the Bank of Longton.

Lorrie loved hobbies like crafts, bingo, playing card games and listening to music. She also loved cooking and watching cooking shows. She was a great cook. She loved spending time with her family and always had a smile on her face. She was kind, sweet and dearly loved and will be missed deeply by family and everyone that knew her.
