Patricia Sue Reeder
Patricia Sue Petty-Reeder 77. Passed away very peacefully on 21 June 2025. Surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Reeder was Born on 7 February 1948 in Stella Missouri. To Buck and Helen Petty. The oldest of the girls so she was in charge when her 2 older brothers were not around. Patty was the 3rd of 8 kids. The kids lived out in the country so they had the expansive farm they lived on to play and have a great time. Patty also had a great deal of cousins who were regularly at the house and playing or camping at the river. Especially with her Dad’s older sister Lucille or as we called Aunt Dooky and her husband Don and their kids. And also her Dad’s oldest brother Pete and his wife Betty and their kids . So she was just surrounded by love. Family was so important to her Mom and Dad and that trickled down to their kids. And I am so glad that it did. That was a constant for me and everyone as our family experienced tragedy.
In 1968 Ms. Petty enlisted in the Army was stationed at White Sands New Mexico working as a medic to tend to the badly wounded boys returning from Vietnam. She was honorably discharged from the Army 1971.
After getting out of the Army Ms. Petty decided to go to Nursing School here in Joplin. Well just so happened another pivotal person was taking Nursing classes and that lady was Joy Shepherd. Now I am not sure how the conversation was struck up between them. But Mrs. Shepherd knew she had a single baby brother. And she was obviously feeling the good vibes Ms. Petty was giving off. Cause she told her about her brother and in turn Mrs. Shepherd told her brother about Ms. Petty. So that lit the fire and on 2 August 1971 they had their first date in Noel Ms. Petty waned a burger large fries and a vanilla shake and David found it strange that she dipped her fries in the shake. But nonetheless on 2 October 1971 they were united in matrimony after only knowing each other for 2 months. And they would stay in that wedded bliss for 54 years. But to this union 2 sons were born Mathew Lincoln Reeder and Seth McEuen Reeder. Now she was a fierce protector of her boys it didn’t matter you don’t mess with her boys. Sadly Mathew passed away far to early in life on 26 May 2001.
Mrs. Reeder is survived by her husband David McEuen and son Seth McEuen Reeder. Sister-in-law Gail Marie Lowry and Brother’s-in-laws Larry Ellison and John Dixon. Daughter’s-in-law Jaime Nichols and spouse Roy Nichols and Tracy Reeder and also a bonus son-in-law Jimmy Beaver. Mrs. Reeder was an avid Chiefs fan now if they weren’t doing too good she would call them the Chefs. Regularly her sister Stink or Nancy would come over about every Sunday and watch the games I would usually fix a meal to go with the game watching. And she was also an avid Cardinals fan as well she got that from her Mother. And she loved to go to casinos and play those one arm bandits oh man she loved it. And she loved bingo too I don’t think as much as me but she did go with me which I enjoyed so very much. And she loved watching Hallmark especially the movies and mysteries.
