Norman Ray Scofield
RIVERTON, KANSAS: Norman Ray Scofield, age 77, passed away at 8:10 am, Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, MO following an illness.
Norman was born January 30, 1948 in Galena, KS. His parents were John V and Mildred Irene (Chew) Scofield. He had lived his lifetime in Galena and Riverton.
He graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1966. He then entered the US Air Force, from 1967-1971. He was stationed in South Korea. Norman worked as a Shipping clerk at Lozier’s in Joplin for over 40 years, retiring in 2010.
He was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Miami, Oklahoma where he served as an Elder.
Norman was married to Peggy Lee Hatmon on September 8, 1967 in Miami, OK. She survives.
Additional survivors include one son, James Scofield (Shelly), Oronogo, MO; one daughter, Regina Rene Gilmore (John), Bulverde, TX; one sister, Lois Scofield, Galena, KS; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, May 5, 2025 at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, MO. The speaker will be Darin Wadkins. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
